Beaumont Tower Plays the Hits
by David Sparks

East Lansing, Mich. - In an effort to create a renewed interest in MSU’s majestic Beaumont Tower, the College of Music has proposed a new set list for the Beaumont Tower to ding and dong its glorious bells to. Most students give no appreciation to this graceful monument that they see everyday, either in person or every time they take out their student ID.

Instead of older, more traditional songs, Beaumont Tower will begin to play more tunes that the average MSU student can relate to. Music director Sonya Williams said that the sheet music for these new songs is completed and students are beginning to practice playing them on the carillon bells. Some of these songs include:

The Who – Baba O’Riley
Chumbawumba—Tubthumping
AC/DC—Hells Bells
Usher—Yeah
Nirvana—Smells Like Teen Spirit
Guns N’ Roses—Sweet Child O’ Mine
Barenaked Ladies—One Week

Sonya hopes that the MSU community will enjoy this change and that more students will appreciate this beautiful structure that makes MSU what it is.
