Warm Weather Blamed for Campus-Wide Streaking Epidemic

Public displays of nudity are on the rise in East Lansing, and unseasonably warm weather is likely the culprit, according to Detroit-area chief meteorologist Jerry Hodak.
“Unseasonably warm weather is likely the culprit [for the streaking epidemic],” Hodak said.
Last week, East Lansing’s average daily high temperature topped out at over 74 degrees Fahrenheit. For this time of year, the figure is approximately 20 degrees warmer than normal. As a result, Hodak says, prime streaking season has been extended for approximately three weeks into Fall. Michigan State official numbers cite an 8% increase in campus streaking arrests from last month. Compared with September 2008 figures, this September saw 33% more full-frontal nudity.
